Utopia Flats (420-444 East Colfax) "Green" Historic Redevelopment
 

Ringsby Realty is assisting in Denver's efforts to revitalize East Colfax with the "Green" historic redevelopment of the Utopia Flats Building located at 420-444 East Colfax Avenue -  just two blocks from the State Capitol Building.

History of Utopia Flats
                   

The Utopia Flats building, built in 1902, was designed by prominent local architect Eugene R. Rice as a luxury apartment building. In 1936, the building was converted to commercial use with the addition of retail along Colfax Avenue and offices on the 2nd and 3rd floors. The upper floors have been vacant for 25 years. The building's exterior was once a magnificent example of early period architecture and the Beaux Arts style but has deteriorated over the years.

Ringsby Realty's historic redevelopment of Utopia Flats will restore the building to its original charm and will help revitalize the surrounding neighborhood. The work will be done using recycled materials, whenever available, to lessen the impact on the environment. Energy efficient glass will be installed throughout and solar panels will be placed on the top of the building to provide for future energy needs.
